On the afternoon of December 24, 2019, the thesis proposal work of the second-year graduate students was held at the College of Foreign Languages. Professor Chen Yongguo, a doctoral tutor of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures of Tsinghua University, Professor Zhang Sijie and Professor Rui Yanping of North University of China were invited to preside over the meeting. Professor Chen, as the chairman of the defense committee of the academic master candidates, after carefully listening to the reports of the students, commented on the topic selection and innovation, experimental design, data collection, expected research results, research significance etc., and then pointed out the deficiencies in the preparation for the thesis and gave suggestions for improvement.

After the meeting, Professor Chen praised the students for their good performance, saying that every student had made sufficient preparations for opening conference, and announced that all students had successfully passed the defense.

Professor Chen Yongguo: Doctor of Literature, professor and doctoral tutor of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Tsinghua University. His research fields cover foreign literature, literary criticism, cultural theory, and translation theory. He has published many monographs, more than 40 translated works and more than 50 articles in core journals at home and abroad.
